Unter der Schirmherrschaft des Bundesministeriums für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen wurde der Deutsche Holzbaupreis 2025 am 27. Mai 2025 verliehen. Die Preisverleihung fand im Rahmen der Weltleitmesse für die internationale holzbe- und -verarbeitende Industrie, LIGNA, in Hannover statt.

Verena Hubertz, Bundesministerin für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen, hob in ihrem Grußwort die vielen Vorteile des Holzbaus hervor: „Holz ist nicht nur nachwachsend – es ist nachdrücklich. Es steht für klimagerechtes Bauen, für regionale Wertschöpfung und für eine Architektur, die nicht nur in die Höhe wächst, sondern auch ins Herz. Diese Vorteile wollen wir verstärkt nutzen und z. B. mit der Holzbauinitiative stärken. Der Deutsche Holzbaupreis würdigt Projekte aus der Praxis und zeigt, wie Holz beim Neubau und der Sanierung eingesetzt wird. Die Auszeichnung ist für die Bauherren, Architekten, Tragwerksplaner und Holzbaubetriebe gedacht, die zeigen, dass moderne Architektur und Nachhaltigkeit Hand in Hand gehen können.“

206 Projekteinreichungen 

Mit 206 Projekten konnte der Deutsche Holzbaupreis in diesem Jahr die Zahl der Einreichungen im Vergleich zum Vorjahr deutlich steigern. Die 15-köpfige Fachjury unter Leitung von Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Arch. Jörg Wollenweber stellte sich der schwierigen Aufgabe, aus der Vielzahl von hervorragenden Einreichungen diejenigen auszuwählen, die mit einem Preis oder einer Anerkennung gewürdigt wurden. Am Ende zeichneten sie fünf Einreichungen mit dem Deutschen Holzbaupreis aus und sprachen vier weiteren Anerkennungen zu. Die Vielfalt der eingereichten Projekte – von kommunalem Bauen über Kulturbauten bis hin zu Industrie-, Gewerbe- und privaten Bauvorhaben – verdeutlicht den herausragenden Stellenwert, den der Holzbau heute einnimmt.  Sie zeigen, dass mit Holz heute nicht nur höher und urbaner gebaut wird als früher, sondern auch intelligenter – denn ein effizienter, ressourcenschonender Materialeinsatz gewinnt bei Bauprojekten zunehmend an Bedeutung.

Deutscher Holzbaupreis mit langjähriger Tradition

Der Deutsche Holzbaupreis wird seit 2003 regelmäßig alle zwei Jahre unter der Federführung von Holzbau Deutschland – Bund Deutscher Zimmerermeister im Zentralverband des Deutschen Baugewerbes in Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedenen Organisationen der Holzwirtschaft ausgelobt. 

Im Jahr 1965 wurde der Deutsche Holzbaupreis erstmals vom Bund Deutscher Zimmermeister – heute Holzbau Deutschland – in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Bund Deutscher Architekten als Architektenwettbewerb „zur Förderung des Gedankens der Verwendung von Holz und Holzwerkstoffen“ ausgelobt. Die Ergebnisse wurden dokumentiert und gingen schon damals in Form einer Wanderausstellung auf Deutschlandtournee.

Vorrangiges Ziel des Deutschen Holzbaupreises ist es, die Verwendung und Weiterentwicklung des ressourcenschonenden, umweltfreundlichen und nachhaltigen Baustoffes weiterzuentwickeln.

German Timber Construction Award 2025: four prizes and one special prize

Four timber construction projects were honoured with the prestigious German Timber Construction Award this year: the “Collegium Academicum” student residence in Heidelberg, the “Cube 68” micro-apartment building in Dinkelsbühl, the community hall in Legau and the culture and sports hall in Alfter. Clients, architects, structural engineers and timber construction companies were honoured as the authors of the award-winning entries. The method for metal-free point-supported flat ceilings made of wood, Gradient Density, was honoured with a special prize.

The German Timber Construction Award 2025 was presented on 27 May 2025 under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building. 206 project submissions

With 206 projects, the German Timber Construction Award was able to significantly increase the number of submissions this year compared to the previous year. The 15-member expert jury headed by Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Arch. Le jury d'experts, composé de 15 membres et présidé par le Prof. Dipl. Jörg Wollenweber, s'est attelé à la tâche difficile de sélectionner, parmi les nombreuses soumissions exceptionnelles, celles qui ont été récompensées par un prix ou une mention. Au final, ils ont décerné le Prix allemand de la construction en bois à cinq soumissions et ont attribué des mentions à quatre autres.
