Ich wünsche Ihnen, auch im Namen meiner Vorstandskollegen, ein gesundes und frohes Weihnachtsfest. Ich bedanke mich sehr herzlich bei allen Kolleginnen und Kollegen für ihre aktive Mitarbeit. Vor allem auch bei all jenen, die sich neben ihrer regulären Tätigkeit zugleich ehrenamtlich engagieren, um den Holzbau voranzubringen. Unser Erfolg bestätigt es: gemeinsam können wir viel bewegen, um die weitere Entwicklung des Holzbaus zu gestalten.

Europa strebt nach Klimaneutralität

Die Europäische Union (EU) setzt mit dem „Green Deal“ Zeichen und will bis 2050 klimaneutral werden. Im Oktober dieses Jahres hat sie die Klimaziele nochmals nachgeschärft: So soll bis 2030 der Ausstoß von Treibhausgasen im Vergleich zu 1990 um 60 Prozent sinken. Bereits 2011 hatte sie sich in ihrer „Europa-2020-Strategie“ zu einem schonenden Umgang mit den vorhandenen Ressourcen verpflichtet. Sie rechnet vor, dass in der EU 40 Prozent des Energieverbrauchs und 36 Prozent der Treibhausgasemissionen auf Gebäude entfallen. Im Rahmen des europäischen Green Deals plant die EU daher eine Renovierungsstrategie, die Gebäude EU-weit energieeffizienter machen soll. Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem städtebaulichen Bestand wird damit zu einer zentralen nachhaltigen Entwicklungsstrategie für Kommunen und Städte. Dabei steht nicht nur die energetische Ertüchtigung der Gebäude im Vordergrund, sondern auch deren Revitalisierung, Erweiterung beziehungsweise Umnutzung. Das Potenzial ist riesig und der Holzbau wird einen noch bedeutenderen Beitrag zum Klimaschutz und zur Ressourcenschonung beitragen können.

Holzbau in Europa

Timber Construction Europe (TCE) engagiert sich u.a., um die europäischen Normen im Sinne des europäischen Holzbaus mitzugestalten. Auf der Grundlage des Subsidiaritätsprinzips setzen wir uns in der technischen Interessenvertretung in holzbaurelevanten europäischen Normungsgremien zum Eurocode, zum Schallschutz oder zur Innenraumluft ein. Gerade auch in Bezug auf die zu überarbeitende Bauproduktenverordnung haben wir uns mit unserer Partnerorganisation „Small Business Standard“ (SBS) an einer ausführlichen Position beteiligt. Die Normung spielt für die europäische Bauwirtschaft eine entscheidende Rolle. Denn sie ermöglicht den freien Verkehr von Bauprodukten in der EU und rationalisiert die Bautätigkeit.

Einen guten Start in ein gesundes und frohes neues Jahr!

Der Holzbau entwickelt sich weiter und er wächst – trotz Corona. Darauf dürfen wir mit Recht stolz sein, denn jeder hat hier seinen Teil beigetragen. Und das sind gute Voraussetzungen für den Start in das neue Jahr.

In diesem Sinne wünsche ich Ihnen und Ihren Familien alles Gute, vor allem Gesundheit und ein glückliches, erfolgreiches und friedvolles Jahr 2021.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

2020 was a year with new challenges and additional burdens for all of us. We have all not yet experienced a pandemic like the one triggered by the Corona virus. And - it continues to shape our everyday lives, both professionally and privately.

Despite all this, there were also many bright spots in retrospect that encourage me and make me feel positive. Timber construction will continue to gain in importance and that is good for us, but above all it is good for the future of our planet. And the fact that timber construction is becoming more and more established is to the credit of all of us who work tirelessly for the further development of our craft.

I wish you, also on behalf of my colleagues on the Board, a healthy and happy Christmas. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all my colleagues for their active cooperation. Above all, I would like to thank all those who, in addition to their regular work, also volunteer their time to promote timber construction. Our success confirms it: together we can achieve a lot to shape the further development of timber construction.

Europe strives for climate neutrality

The European Union (EU) is setting an example with its "Green Deal" and wants to become climate-neutral by 2050. In October of this year, it once again tightened up its climate targets: by 2030, for example, greenhouse gas emissions are to be reduced by 60 percent compared to 1990 levels. As early as 2011, it had committed itself in its "Europe 2020 Strategy" to careful use of existing resources. It calculates that buildings account for 40 percent of energy consumption and 36 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the EU. As part of the European Green Deal, the EU is therefore planning a renovation strategy to make buildings more energy efficient across the EU. Addressing the urban stock is thus becoming a key sustainable development strategy for municipalities and cities. The focus is not only on making buildings more energy-efficient, but also on revitalizing, expanding and converting them. The potential is huge and timber construction will be able to make an even more significant contribution to climate protection and resource conservation.

Timber Construction in Europe

Timber Construction Europe (TCE) is committed, among other things, to helping shape European standards in the interests of European timber construction. On the basis of the subsidiarity principle, we are involved in the technical representation of interests in European standardization committees relevant to timber construction on the Eurocode, sound insulation or inside air. Particularly with regard to the Construction Products Regulation, which is to be revised, we have participated in a detailed position with our partner organization "Small Business Standard" (SBS). Standardization plays a crucial role for the European construction industry. This is because it enables the free movement of construction products in the EU and streamlines construction activity.

A good start to a healthy and happy new year!

Timber construction continues to develop and it is growing - despite Corona. We can be justifiably proud of this, because everyone has played their part here. And these are good conditions for the start of the new year.
