Timber Construction Europe takes the protection of your data during collection, processing and use on the occasion of your visit to our homepage very seriously. Your personal data is protected within the scope of statutory provisions. In the following we inform you about the personal data we collect during your visit to our homepage, where we collect it and what we do with this data. We will also inform you of your rights in data protection matters and who you may contact in this regard.

Each time a user accesses the Timber Construction Europe site and each time a file is retrieved, data from the requesting computer is stored in a log file. This storage solely serves internal system-related and statistical purposes.

Processing of Personal Data

When you visit the Timber Construction Europe homepage, the web servers as a standard temporarily store the connection data of the requesting computer along with the IP address, the web pages you visit on our website, the names of downloaded files, date/time and duration of your visit, the identification data of the browser and operating system type used and the website from which you visit us. We use the data you provide for the sole purpose of technical administration of the websites and to fulfill the telemedia offered. We use your voluntarily provided data exclusively for the purpose for which you have given it to us. You can object to such use at any time – with effect for the future. Contact Form

We collect your data (name, company/department, address and contact data) for the purpose of responding to your contact enquiry. Data processing is based on Article 6 Paragraph 1 f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR]. Our legitimate interest is to answer your inquiry. Your personal data will not be passed on to third parties unless this is required in order to respond to your inquiry. Your data will also not be transferred from the contact form into our address database. The data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer required for the purpose of their processing. You have the right to object to the use of your data for the purpose of establishing contact at any time.

Registration in the Member’s Area

We collect your data (name, address, company, and contact data) for the purpose of carrying out your registration for the member’s area of www.timber-construction.eu. After your registration you will receive your username and password in order to log in to the member’s area of the website. Data processing is based on Article 6 Paragraph 1 f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR]. In this manner we aim to ensure that only members and members of our member associations have access to the information provided in the member area. The data will not be passed on to third parties. Web Analysis by Matomo (formerly PIWIK)

1. Scope of the Processing of Personal Data

On our website we use the open source software tool Matomo (formerly PIWIK) in order to analyse the surfing behaviour of our users. The software places a cookie on the user’s computer (see above for cookies). If individual pages of our website are accessed, then the following data are stored:

  • two bytes of the IP address of the user’s invoking system
  • the web page requested
  • the website from which the user has accessed the website that was requested (referrer)
  • the subpages requested from the web page that was requested
  • the time spent on the website
  • the frequency with which the website is accessed
  • number of returning visitors
  • entry and exit pages
  • search terms used in the full text search
  • number of page views

The software runs exclusively on the servers of our website. The personal data of users is only stored there. The data are not passed on to third parties.

2. Legal Basis for the Processing of Personal Data

The legal basis for the processing of the user’s personal data is provided by Article 6 Paragraph 1 lit. f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR].

3. Purpose of Data Processing

The processing of users’ personal data enables us to analyse the surfing behaviour of our users. We are in a position to compile information about the use of the individual components of our website by evaluating the data obtained. This helps us to constantly improve our website and its user-friendliness. These purposes constitute our legitimate interest in processing the data in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 lit. f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR].

By anonymizing the IP address, the users’ interest in protection of their personal data is taken into sufficient account.

4. Storage Period

The original data will be deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for our recording purposes.

For our website this is the case after 90 days.

5. Possibility of Objection and Removal

Cookies are stored on the user’s computer and transmitted to our site. Therefore, you as a user also have full control over the use of cookies. You can deactivate or restrict the transmission of cookies by changing the settings in your Internet browser. Cookies that have already been saved can be deleted at any time. In this manner another cookie is placed on your system that instructs our system not to store the user’s data. If the user deletes the corresponding cookie from his or her own system in the meantime, then the opt-out cookie must be set again.

Objection to Web Tracking

In addition, the “Do not track” function is activated in the Matomo installation (formerly PIWIK). If your browser supports this function and you have activated the function in the browser settings, then Matomo will not collect any data even if you do not use the above deactivation cookie.

We use technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data stored by us against unintentional or unlawful destruction, loss or alteration as well as against unauthorized disclosure or unauthorized access. Our security standards are regularly adapted to technological progress. Our employees are obliged to maintain confidentiality.
